Look at the position of the objects that are arranged from left to right. Underline the correct ordinal number for the object inside the (parentheses)
When kids are playing they are always ranking who will be the winner. How will one rank it? 1st place of course instead of 1 place! This is what we call an ordinal number.
Kids often use numbers to count things. It could be when playing with their toys, books, crayons or even the members of their family. The numbers used to count certain objects are cardinal numbers. But, what about position of something in a group? These numbers are Ordinal Numbers.
First (1st), Second, (2nd), Third (3rd), Fourth (4th), Fifth (5th) and so on are realy life examples of ordinal numbers.
They can used it in written words or in number form with letters at the end. Any number can be used, even large numbers are use as ordinal numbers. We learn this by adding the correct ending after a number, such as (th, st, nd or rd). For example, for the number 100, it's ordinal number is 100th.
This worksheet will engage kids with shapes and with different colors to help them learn. Your students should observe the order of the shapes from left to right. After observing they should answer the questions that are listed. Kids should underline the correct ordinal number of the object inside the parenthesis.
